Michelin ONCall is an emergency breakdown service for commercial vehicle owners and operators of trucks, coaches and buses. The service started as a pilot in the UK and North America and is now being extended to a further 34 countries. Michelin ONCall enables customers to access roadside assistance 24/7/365, with call-outs routed to the closest Michelin centres with the correct tyre in stock.
Lesniak Swann has developed a mobile app for Michelin ONCall, believed to be the first of its kind to use geo-technology, to link UK and Ireland based truck, bus and coach drivers with an emergency tyre replacement service throughout Europe. App users can access the service either using their ONCall membership details or by using a credit card when requesting roadside assistance on a pay-as-you-go basis.
The app is available on both iOS and Android platforms and can be accessed via GPRS, 3G, 4G or a Wi-Fi connection to provide the ONCall service centre with a location with pinpoint accuracy. In the event of a need for assistance the driver of the vehicle can make a call, through the app, to the UK service centre and an SMS or an email, depending on how the app is accessed, will be sent to the delivery centre. The location (of the user) is transmitted to approved dealers with the correct stock who can be called out quickly to their exact location.
